Ringo Starr, byname of Sir Richard Starkey, was born July 7, 1940, in Liverpool, Merseyside, England. He is a British musician, singer, songwriter, and actor. He is popular as the drummer of the Beatles, which is one of the most influential bands in rock history. He occasionally sang lead vocals for the band and wrote some of their songs.
