GILLIAN ANDERSON

Gillian Anderson dominated the late-night airwaves on TV through her appearance in the serial crime drama The X-Files as Special Agent Dana Scully who uses her medical degree and background during her investigations. The part seemed perfect for the tough actress who portrayed the agent throughout the show’s ten-year run.

When the series ended in 2002, Anderson returned to London to continue earning stage credits. She appeared in the 2005 film adaptation of Charles Dickens’ novel Bleak House as London socialite Lady Dedlock and in the 2014 National Theatre Live production of Tennessee Williams’ play A Streetcar Named Desire as English teacher Blanche DuBois. In Hollywood, Gillian is known as the “little pepper”. She is a well-known feminist who frequently criticizes the patriarchal practices in the American showbiz and is aggrieved by the various unfair treatments received by actresses. The earlier “remuneration storm” is a typical example.
