Calista was born in Illinois. Her mother is Kai, who is an English teacher. Her father Ronald Flockhart is the executive officer of Kraft Foods. After her parents retired, they lived in Morris Township, New Jersey. She has an older brother, Gary. Calista Flockhart also had a great-grandmother named Calista. She has been the wife of Hollywood actor Harrison Ford since 2010.

Calista Flockhart’s most popular acting credit goes to her performance on the beloved Fox legal drama series Ally McBeal as the show’s titular Boston-based lawyer alongside Portia de Rossi’s character Nelle Porter. The role of McBeal showed the compulsive attorney to be a workaholic desperate for love. Now 54 years old, Flockhart continues to appear in other popular TV series like the drama program Brothers & Sisters where she portrayed as TV presenter Kitty Walker McCallister as well as the superhero series Supergirl as White House press secretary Cat Grant.
