AMANDA BEARSE

Amanda Bearse was born in Winter Park, Florida, and spent her childhood in Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated from Winter Park High School in 1976 and then entered Rollins College. Later, she went to Birmingham Southern College and Young Harris College to study and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. Since 1993, she has been publicly out as a homosexual and adopted a daughter Zoe.

Bearse’s most popular ‘90s-era acting credit goes to her performance in the beloved Fox sitcom Married with Children as the Bundy family’s feminist neighbor and former city bank loan officer Marcy Rhoades-D’Arcy whose ideals often clashed with Al’s own misogynistic principles. Bearse tried her hand at directing while still on the hit show, and she even takes director credit for 31 of the program’s 259 episodes. Now 58 years old, she also deserves credit for her work on TV series like Veronica’s Closet, Mad TV, The Jamie Foxx Show, and Jessie as a director. She is part of the LGBT community.
